Southland Ballet Academy

The official school of Southern California’s Festival Ballet Theatre, Southland Ballet Academy was founded more than 25 years ago to cultivate, train and inspire an appreciation of classical ballet from the beginner student through the professional dancer.

SBA students have won top honors and grand prizes in prominent local, national and international ballet competitions, including Los Angeles Music Center's Spotlight Awards, Orange County Performing Arts Center’s Stars of Tomorrow, USA International Ballet Competition, Youth America Grand Prix, Nagoya International Ballet & Modern Dance Competition (Japan), and Helsinki International Ballet Competition.

Dancers trained at SBA have been accepted into companies around the world, including Ballet Austin, Eugene Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Scottish Ballet and Washington Ballet. Noteworthy Academy students have received scholarships – summer intensives programs as well as ongoing studies – from American Ballet Theatre (National Scholars), Joffrey Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Royal Ballet School (year-round full scholarships), San Francisco Ballet, Washington Ballet, and numerous others. Our students have also been invited to perform in productions and gala programs with American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, Kirov Ballet, Royal Ballet School, San Francisco Ballet, and Youth America Grand Prix.

For the past 8 years, Youth America Grand Prix has recognized Southland Ballet Academy with its award for Outstanding School.
