Edgar Nikolyan
Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Edgar Nikolyan is a recent recipient of the “Dancer of the Year 2008” award. He trained and graduated from the Armenian National Academy of Ballet. Upon competing in the 2004 Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland, he received a full scholarship to study at the world-renowned Heinz-Bosl Stiftung Academy in Münich, Germany. While in Münich, Nikolyan performed with the Bayerisches-Staats Ballet. Internationally, he has also danced with the Vienna Staatsoper (State Opera) and Volksoper (Folks Opera) in Austria. In the United States, Nikolyan has appeared as a guest principle soloist with numerous companies. His extensive repertoire includes lead roles in Anna Karenina, Carmen, Corsair, Don Quixote, Gayane, Giselle, La Traviata, La Cage, Les Sylphide, The Nutcracker, Onegin, Raymonda, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. A dancer, teacher and choreographer, Nikolyan is also artistic director of his own studio-academy. This is his second season with FBT.
