What a treat! New York City Ballet’s Sara Mearns and Jared Angle will be our guest artists for the December 17th evening – December 18th matinee and evening shows of Festival Ballet Theatre’s “The Nutcracker” at the Irvine Barclay Theatre.

Sara Mearns is a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet and is considered one of the most internationally celebrated classical ballet dancers today. She was born in Columbia, South Carolina and started dance training at the age of three! She joined the New York City Ballet as an apprentice in 2003 and became a member of the corps de ballet in 2004 and became a principal in 2008.

Like Sara, New York City Ballet’s Jared Angle also started dancing at a young age. He was six when he started his dance training. Born in Pennsylvania, Jared entered the School of American Ballet, the official school of the New York City Ballet in 1996.  He then became an apprentice with New York City Ballet in 1998 and joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet the same year. He was promoted to principal dancer in 2005.
